Unemployment Falls in 98 North Carolina Counties and Every Metropolitan Area

Raleigh, N.C. –  The unemployment rate fell in 98 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in March 2017 and remained the same in one, according to county and area employment figures released this week by the state Department of Commerce.

The unemployment rate also decreased in all 15 of North Carolina’s Metropolitan Statistical Areas – the larger cities and suburbs – as the statewide unemployment rate fell .3 points to 4.7% from February to March 2017.

“North Carolina is experiencing rapid economic expansion after tax cuts for families and businesses made our state more attractive and competitive for a growing population,” said House Speaker Tim Moore.
