Speaker Moore Joins Legislative Leaders in All 50 States Supporting the Confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court

Raleigh, N.C. – North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) joined state legislative leaders across the nation in signing a letter of support for the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, urging U.S. Senators to conduct prompt and thorough hearings on her nomination by President Donald Trump.

The letter, addressed to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and the chairman and ranking members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says “Judge Barrett’s qualifications are undeniable.”

“She is a well-respected federal judge and a former Supreme Court law clerk,” the letter says. “She is a brilliant legal scholar and has been selected as distinguished professor of the year by three of Notre Dame Law School’s graduating classes.”

“On behalf of the millions of American citizens we represent, we respectfully request a prompt, objective, and fair hearing.”

Speaker Moore first announced his support for Judge Barrett’s confirmation upon her nomination in September:

“North Carolinians appreciate President Trump’s nomination of an excellent jurist to the Supreme Court who will uphold the constitution’s vital protections for the American people,” Speaker Moore said.

“I look forward to supporting Judge Barrett through her confirmation.”
