Speaker Moore to Ride Hatteras-Ocracoke Passenger Ferry Today and Discuss Ferry Operations, Coastal Dredging Needs

Raleigh, N.C. – North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) will ride the passenger ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke today to receive an update on the ferry’s operations and learn more about dredging needs in our coastal channels.

The General Assembly appropriated over $1 million earlier this year to guarantee an operational passenger ferry between Hatteras and Ocracoke this summer.

Following NCDOT’s decision to cut the ferry’s operation due to its well documented financial mismanagement, Speaker Moore stepped forward with the support of Representative Ed Goodwin (R-Chowan) and Representative Bobby Hanig (R-Currituck) to fund the ferry’s operation this year.

Speaker Moore will be joined by Rep. Ed Goodwin, former State Director of the North Carolina Ferry Division.
