General Assembly Leaders to Visit N.C. A&T, UNCG Ahead of $120M Budget Investments in Guilford County Campuses

Raleigh, N.C. – Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) and state House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) will join Guilford County lawmakers on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. to visit North Carolina A&T State University together and promote a $36 million budget investment into capital projects, doctoral programs, and research grants on the campus in Greensboro, N.C.

The bipartisan spending plan approved by the state General Assembly appropriates $18.5 million for North Carolina A&T to renovate Carver Hall on its campus.  The budget also invests $15 million in the university’s doctoral program and $3.2 million to support matching requirements for its agricultural research and Cooperative Extension federal grants.

Speaker Moore and area legislators will then tour UNC Greensboro at 11:00 a.m. to learn about plans for an $84 million expansion and renovation of the Jackson Library on campus funded through the General Assembly’s bipartisan state budget.
